Jens K. Carl was born on a Sunday in July 1964 in Bad Langensalza. He spent his early years in the picturesque town of Waltershausen, on the edge of the Thuringian Forest, where he enjoyed a carefree childhood and attended school.

He trained as a construction machinery operator and spent several years driving heavy machinery in road and civil engineering as an excavator and crawler excavator driver. Later, for health reasons, he retrained as an office clerk.

In 1996, Jens K. Carl embarked on a bold venture with Frank Schumann, a qualified teacher of mathematics and physics: Together, they founded the first private didactic institute for computer-assisted learning in mathematics classes, at a time when computers in schools, especially in mathematics and science classes, were still considered a utopian vision. The Math College relocated to Hanover in 1997 and enriched the educational landscape throughout Germany with concepts, lectures at universities and schools, and workshops for teachers on the use of new technologies. They distributed nonfiction books and computer applications, including scientific and graphing calculators with computer algebra systems, through a teaching materials retailer. Three years later, Schumann’s Publishing House was founded, a specialist publisher for school mathematics that published didactic publications.

At the same time, Jens K. Carl devoted himself to his creative passions. Since childhood, he immersed himself in the world of photography, painting and drawing with passion, and eventually gave free rein to his writerly soul. Since 2017, he has been sharing his thoughts and stories with the world as a freelance writer and blogger. His Morgel stories are read on every continent, in many languages – the internet makes it possible.
